A Beautiful Morning

Ya’ll, I just have to tell you about my morning. It is mornings like these when I KNOW we serve a GREAT God who loves us, knows what we need, and provides it ten fold!

This morning, Cori Belle woke up at 6:30 am. As I rolled over to check the time I sighed at the thought of having to wake this early when there was much needed sleep for me in my bed! I walked to her room, changed her and fed her. As soon as she had her fill of warm milk in the morning, she literally rolled over in my lap, tucked her arms and legs beneath her (one of the cutest things in the world!) and went back to sleep. I put her back in bed and then walked back to MY bed to finish some much needed rest.

I woke at 8:00 feeling refreshed with no sounds of crying in the background. There was still a sleeping baby across the house. :) In the kitchen I brewed some warm Starbucks coffee, the kind that warms my soul as I like to tell David, even though he thinks coffee warming your soul is a load of you know what! After my cup was filled, I sat down for some much needed time in the Word. Some of my dearest friends and I are doing a bible study on the book of Ruth. Today was lesson 1 of week 3.

As I neared the end of my study I was prompted to read Psalm 91, vs 1-16. Coincidence? I think not! Ya’ll, I have really been struggling with fear lately. Fear of losing my husband, fear of losing my daughter, fear of something happening to me and not being able to raise my daughter or grow old with my husband. Fear of the night, the unknown, FEAR, FEAR, FEAR! I think a lot of it has to do with the losses in the Smith family we had a few weeks ago. It must have affected me way more than I thought it did.

My summer bible study “siestas” and I were just talking about this when we met on Wednesday afternoon. My friend Kristy, who is so very near and dear to my heart, had me turn to Psalm 91 during our conversation and reminded me of God’s TRUTH. How funny that our study on Ruth had me reflect on Psalm 91 just 2 days later.

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
       will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
       my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
       and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
       and under his wings you will find refuge;
       his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
       nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
       nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
       ten thousand at your right hand,
       but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
       and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
       even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
       no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
       so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
       you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
       I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
       I will be with him in trouble,
       I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
       and show him my salvation."

What peace that brings to my soul to know that God knows my heart and he knows how to give it ease. There is no reason to fear and God has made that very clear. Thank you siestas for praying for me and thank you God for delivering me!

Well, it’s 9:30 and my little one is waking in the background. It was just enough time to sleep a little, feel the warmth of coffee, and be refreshed by the Lord and His Word. What a beautiful morning!

It sounds like He gave you a Word to hold onto! He is so faithful to meet our needs! Who are you doing the study with? I desperately want to get into a women's bible study again...it's been too long!
