Sweet Home Alabama

That is the title of my favorite movie and the place we will be moving come June! That’s right, all the waiting has finally come to an end. After 20 Fellowship applications, 11 interviews, and the ranking process, we found out yesterday at noon that UAB is the place Dave will continue on to do his Pediatric ER Fellowship. We couldn’t be more pleased!!

God is so good! Dave had such a great feeling about UAB while he was there, and even though he liked many of the other programs he interviewed with, none left him with that lasting impression like UAB. It was his 4th interview of 11 and the first one to talk about God. During his interview, they actually talked about some of the churches in town and where our family might fit in. Dave got to talk about his faith and was encouraged by the program director as well as some of the other fellows. I really believe God used those conversations to give us peace about moving there. Finding a new church home is something that is really important to us. Being in community with other believers is what spurs us on in our faith. I am so thankful that God has that on the top of his priority list as well! And, I can’t tell you how excited I am to visit David Platt’s church in Birmingham!! Not to get off on a tangent here, but David Platt is the author of a book called, Radical – Taking back your faith from the American Dream. I’m only a few chapters in, but it’s GOOD!!! My friends who have read the whole thing say it will change your life! I can’t wait to finish it!!! And, I can’t wait for the opportunity to sit in his church to hear him preach in the coming months!!

So now what? Well, Dave finishes up his residency here at UF in the middle of June. Before that time comes, we have to figure out what to do with our house in G-ville and find a place to live in Birmingham. If you know anyone that wants a cute 2 bedroom, 2 bath let me know!! Sale or rent!!

I do have to admit, I’m pretty excited about moving to “the south”!! Smock dresses and big bows, OH MY!! :)
