Hey friends! CB Smith here. Last time I wrote I filled you in on my one month check up.Well, I went to the doc's again this past Wednesday for my two month check up. I know, I am a little older than two months (10 wks, 5 days to be exact) , but ya know those doctor's offices -- they are so busy, they can barely fit everyone in! :)
It started out as a great appointment. The nurse came in and made faces at me while mommy took all my clothes off. I was having so much fun smiling and laughing at the nurse, I didn't even realize I was naked! Once I was naked, the nurse weighed me and measured me. I now weigh 10 lbs, 3 oz and I am 23 inches long. Mom says I'm a growing girl! Then, Dr. Kelly came in and checked my eyes, ears, joints, etc. She put me on my belly to see how high I could hold my head up. I think I did a great job because Dr. Kelly started smiling at me and then she told my mom we must spend a lot of time practicing on our tummy time mat, which we do!
After a few minutes, Dr. Kelly was all done and mommy put my clothes back on. This is where it got a little weird. Normally, Dr. Kelly leaves the room and mommy packs me up to go home, but this time we stayed behind. Mommy held me and started talking to me about being brave (not even sure what that word means!!). She told me it was going to be okay and all I had to do was stay calm. That's when I remembered this was the visit for shots!
The nurse came back in and mom laid me on the table. Mom got real close to me, held my hands, and spoke soft, sweet words to me. I was actually having fun talking with my mom when all of the sudden I felt some sharp pains in my leg, then in both my legs!! My face turned bright red and I wrinkled it real tight trying to withstand the pain. Soon the tears started streaming down my face and I couldn't help but wail. I looked up at my mommy for reassurance, but she had tears running down her face too!!
When the nurse was all done poking me, mommy picked me up and told me it was going to be okay and that I did a great job. I just buried my face in my mommy's shoulder and cried some more. Finally, I calmed down and my mommy gave me my nook to suck on, which made it so much better! I just closed my eyes and went to sleep.
Now, I know what those shot things are and I don't like them, not one bit! I sure hope I never have to get them again, but from the looks of it, I probably will. As long as mommy's there to hold me, I think I'll be alright. I sure do love that mommy of mine.. she's the best!
Until next time...
